    This is such poor game design, man. Dweller is too easy to defeat because of some fundamental mechanics in minecraft. Instead of working around those you just completely rewrite them. Whoa the cave dweller is so scary nos because it doesn't even operate within the rules of Minecraft!! Lame. You're obviously out of your depth on this project

    Bro, i just thought about it, and it would be so cool, if when someone just blocks him/herself into a place, if the dweller would detect, that there is like 2-3 blocks between his target, it would start smacking that row of blocks with its head, in an attempt of breaking the blocks of that row one by one, until it gets to the player, crawling to it, and biting in him/her (dealing 5-6 hearts of damage), and giving a loud scream (if it bit its target), if it would break the last block in that row and if the player would be next to the gap's exit, which it made for itself, like in it 2, where pennywise just breaks the glass with its head in that labyrinth.

    I feel like something you totally forgot is that usually powerful mobs in MC should be around some powerful stuff otherwise they get boring fast--it isn't that you should have to intentionally seek them necessarily so much as that finding them should be incentivized so you don't get tired of playing so quickly. This is to say a chunk has to have a certain amount of "good" blocks within it for the CD to even spawn, thus making its OP abilities more understandable--it is there to alert you to the fact you're in a part of the world that makes the challenge worthy. I feel like there should be an insanely low possibility for a "transient" dweller if certain conditions are met, just so you never truly feel safe in any cave yet the risk is so low you're not on edge regularly, but perhaps also chunks like slimes where otherwise they will only spawn there. This would make exploration more daunting as the greater your fortune the more your fear it may catch up to you. I understand the meaning of making a fear that gives no incentive to when you discover it but it'd be nice to feel as if I did something right whilst expanding my gameplay exponentionally by being followed by a horrorbeast. It also would mean the cave dweller would naturally end up to be more likely in close-chase corridors like mineshafts where choices can be even more chaotic and life-threatening. Love the mod, just considering how to make it more lasting!

    If you make some echoing crying sounds around the cave would make me terrified especially if the sound echoed and bounced off the cave walls. if you had it crying in the corner that would scare the heck out of me!

    Adding actions of climbing walls, clinging(using claws to hold onto surfaces from falling) will add tension. And if possible "procedial animations" giving the "not ordinary" feel that goes away after watching the arms flail everywhere. So it may keep its horror element instead of being a nuisance after the third time seeing it. After playing the mod for a good while, It got stale since there is no progression. It would be awsome if some aspects aided in gameplay. Like A **nest/layer** where it may present more often, oddly generated caves, and some type of reward or motivation to find it or survive it besides not dying. Lore? Disc 13 + 11? I may also suggest making the cave dweler more of a procedial threat that chasses players out of caves rather than killing them. So it becomes ongoing, survivable and engaging. By first chasing without killing, and gradually increase it's threat by damage and/or appearance. Also giving the ability to break blocks(slowly) since it makes trapping much more fun and exiting. AND HIDING! Make it wait for players behind walls!

    I thought a good phase would be the cave dweller spawning out of sight (preferably near mobs) as you hear it start to swiftly kill all mobs within its spawn area

    Please ignore these people and give them nothing of what they want in regards to the shield, they don't know that they don't need to hold up their shield when fighting the cave dweller, they don't know that it's minecraft and loosing stuff is how minecraft has always been and they don't know that if they don't like the mod they don't have to install it.

    I appreciate trying to make the dweller more dangerous but I think the armor pierce and instantly destroying shields is way too much, especially instantly destroying shields. A problem a lot of dweller monster mods have is they try to make their dweller constantly dangerous at all times, and while logically this makes sense with the point of the mob they go way overboard to the point where the mob is just not fun at all to deal with and just makes it so your only good option is to just run until it despawns. Thoughts on armor pierce: I dont like this because this just invalidates the player's progression. I am not a Minecraft modder or know anything about coding but I'd rather the damage be something like it partially pierces armor, like it pierces 50% of the total armor and it could justifiably ignore enchantments outright because you still get the benefit of armor protecting you. Shield breaking: Just a huge no on this, this is annoying and feels like the idea was only considering the dweller himself and not everything else the player would have to deal with afterwards. A lot of people suggested doing the axe thing where the shield gets temporarily disabled when hit and I agree with that, but I hugely emphasize to not do anything more than that. There's a dweller mod that disables the shield outright during chase until that dweller is gone and its not fun to deal with at all.

    After reading other opinions about the insta shield break, I was thinking of a mechanic to have the cave dweller grab the shield and toss it away from your offhand or hotbar. This animation will deal less damage than what the cave dweller normally does and knocks you back further, and you are able to pick the shield back up as a droppable item. However, it will become disabled and loses some of its durability, let's say around 15%. Furthermore the dweller will toss the shield behind itself so you would have to get behind it to get the shield back. If you parry the cave dweller, you won't be knockback'ed as the standard animation and the damage taken will still be the same, but the dweller will be stunned and the shield will still be diaabled with a 10% durabilty deduction This will be the durability deduction for unenchanted shields Fyi:i stopped the video at 7:05 so please go easy on me with any criticism

    Since everyone is arguing about the shield breaking, how about a middle ground option? It makes you drop your shield. Not shield break already in game or dropping the durability to 0, it makes you let go of the shield, kind of like if it grabbed on to it and threw it aside. That's both unnatural for Minecraft and makes the shield unusable against it.

    Like many have said, the shield solution is too harsh and it could use a remodel since it's not that scary or iconic. But while you fix the issue of the pillar, there's also the strategy of them just boxing themselves in once they see it and dig around until it's gone. There's the idea of destroying one stone block at a time, but if there's no way for it to reach a player it should just hide or despawn. Maybe make it count for each time it fails to catch the player, it'll get impatient and do more crazy things like digging (breaking blocks) once it's triggered enough times.

    hi gargin, great plugin!! i really enjoyed playing it tonight :D he is a lot harder to beat than the old version, and the new features definitely make him a lot scarier 😰 i managed to beat him (with enchanted diamond sword and armour 😹) although in the process i found a few glitches, just thought i’d let u know in case u r not aware 😊 1. if you pour lava on him while he’s climbing, it crashes your game and gives the error ‘pathfinding’ 2. if you try and log back into the world and he’s still climbing, it crashes again with the same error

    I still feel like you should tie the cave dweller power to advancements to make it a constant threat at all stages of the game. And maybe even limit the number of apparitions per "stages" of the game to make it a rare encounter. (with lategame removing that limit but still keeping it rare). Give it stuff like immunity to lava after the first time you reach the nether for exemple, make it feel like it's adapting over time and keeping up with your progression.
